The temperature dropped from 70 degrees to 20 degrees & snow. Wind, thunder, lightening, rain, snow and warm sunchine - all in one weekend!
Saw waterfalls and hills covered with pink phlox.

WEATHER:
Overcast, no sun, but warm, probably mid-70's. More than 1/2 the leaves around the cabin had already fallen, ground completely covered with orange leaves.
RADIO:
Listened to A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor on Saturday afternon, episode from Ireland
EXCURSIONS:
Went to house on Saturday night to look at Elf Bowling, Herding Cats & Evian Waterbabies on Internet & to show Beth my Hall Family genealogy CD.
NOTE:
Saw a little furry creature in the cabin, it hid under the couch and we left it alone.
Red-headed woodpecker pecked on side of cabin while we watched a movie on Sunday afternoon til we went out and it flew away.

Fall 2001 - September 20-22
Sarah's house
Beth arrived at Sarah's house Thursday evenong at 9 p.m., just in time to watch the President's call to war at a joint session of Congress. Kirby watched it with us.

EXCURSIONS:
Went to Garden Ridge at Hamburg Place to do a little shopping.
TV:
From 9-11 pm Saturday night, watched a special fundraising tribute to heros of 9/11. It was on ALL stations & the radio - great music with celebrities manning the call-in phones for pledges.
NOTE:
On Saturday, we slept late and instead of watching movies, we watched the "war news" on TV, listened to 9.1 Patriotic Music Radio & went to "Michael's" for red, white, and blue beads & pins.
A very different get-together for us from previous ones because of the September 11 attacks, but we made the most of our time. It was a very pleasant and peaceful few days in the midst of the tragedy that has struck.

MOVIES:
Babette's Feast
Moulin Rouge - We gave this a 3-4 rating on a scale of 10. Waited 1-1/2 years to watch it, was very disappointed.
CRAFTS:
Watched two Donna Dewberry instructional videos on One-Stroke Painting and painted for a couple hours. Sarah decoupaged a clay pot for Beth.
FOOD:
Beth's famous vegetable soup & corn cakes
Burke's butterflake rolls, pimento cheese and sunshine orange cake.
FESTIVITIES:
Celebrated Morgan's 6th birthday at the church gym. Her dad set up a D.J. disco set complete with crystal ball and strobe lights.
Amanda baked the cake and sprinkled it with nerds, had re-lighting candles.
EXCURSIONS:
Visited downtown antique store and a couple places on 619 to look for things to paint.
WEATHER:
Rainy on Friday, then dry - nice temperature.

Listened to Martha Stewart's Spooky Scary Sounda for Halloween
A mix of popular Italian artists, Sarah's Blue Mix & Mandy Patinkin
Sarah slept like a rock!
