This is the 1880 Michigan census.
This is a listing of the Dan & Mary Ann Ryan household. Dan is listed as the 32 year-old head of household, and Mary Ann (Molly) is listed as his 27 year-old wife. It states that Dan 'works in livery barn'. I remember Mom telling me that Dan owned his own livery stable in Holly.

Their sons William (age 10) and Junior (aka Junea, Junius) (age 12) are also listed.  I've heard Mom refer to Uncle Bill (William) and how much she liked him. She had a vivid memory of visiting an apple farm with Uncle Bill and Aunt Nellie. She would often say, "If I close my eyes, I can still smell the aroma of the apples from that day".

William and Junior were Mary Ann's sons from a previous marriage to a William VanSickle. William kept the VanSickle name, but Junior assumed the Ryan name.

Junior would grow up to marry Helen (Nell) Tortellet. (Mom's grandmother)
